An Air conditioner (AC) has been equipped at almost every room in Okayama University. However, students often overuse AC even at comfortable situations, which can lead to the global warming. In this paper, we present an AC overuse alarm system using Raspberry Pi. It periodically samples the temperature and humidity of the room to calculate the discomfort index (DI), and observes the AC use using a web camera. Then, if DI is within the comfortable range and AC is turned on, the system outputs a voice alarm message with five languages and sends an email alarm message to the registered persons. Through simple experiments, we confirmed that the implemented system runs correctly. |
