Internet of Things (IoT) enables smart and innovative services by inter-connecting IoT devices. IEEE 802.11ah is a recently designed wireless protocol to connect massive IoT devices and support required Quality of Service (QoS). However, one of the key challenges in realizing IoT is imparting adequate security in devices that are resource-limited and hence not suited to bear the overhead of complex security protocols. To this end, an internet-wide port scan scheme employs to identify vulnerable ports. However, the impact of port scan on the performance of the emerging IEEE 802.11ah protocol has not been studied, which may degrade QoS. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a mathematical model to analyze the performance of IEEE 802.11ah and wide port scan. |
