We propose a non-binary convolutional coded modulation system for M-QAM with high spectral efficiency for Rayleigh fading channels, which employs super- position scheme. In particuler, we focuses on the superposed non-binary convolutional codes with one memory register for 16-QAM. The proposed codes cannot improve the bit error rate (BER) for additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels because they offer no large Euclidean distances. However, the code is effective for Rayleigh fading channels. New good non-binary convolutional codes for 16-QAM are proposed and their bit error rates are evaluated for Rayleigh fading channels. |
