Site diversity is a critical technology for satellite-to-ground laser links for improvement of the network availability. National Institute of Information and Communications Technology has developed a testbed with environmental-data collection systems, deployed in ten different sites within Japan with the goal to identify best locations for satellite laser communications with highest availability and lowest correlations between each other. Three of these locations already have 1-meter telescopes installed for future satellite lasercom missions. In this paper, we introduce the weather station structure and show some of the statistics of the collected data concerning site correlation and link availability. While in [1] only daytime statistics using the Pyranometer data were discussed, here we show the results from the IR temperature sensors and compare it with the Pyranometer data. |
