Hierarchical edge is a concept where several tiers of processing nodes are placed between the central data center and the clients. These processing nodes become a host to deploy a service or service components. One of the possible method for hierarchical edge development is by using microservices. Host selection is important to get a good service performance, but selecting an optimum host can be tricky, as there are many possible configurations. One of the characteristic of an optimum host is low end-to-end latency. In this study we propose a method to estimate the end-to-end latency of a service by referring to a microservices latency dictionary. This way developers do not need to do time-consuming benchmark to see the performance of each possible deployment configuration. |
