This paper explores an energy-efficient data gathering scheme in UAV-aided sensor networks using virtual array antenna. An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is used to collect data in the network. To enhance data gathering efforts, we allow nodes that receive the UAV’s beacon signal to form into clusters according to their transmission priority levels and positions. A multi-hop routing algorithm is presented to optimize an energy consumption for nodes within cluster. Cluster head nodes are selected to collaborate with others and form into a virtual array of antenna. The results show that we can achieve a significant amount of energy savings. |
