This paper proposes non-diffusion-based molecular communication (MC) where bio-nanomachines communicate using adhesive molecules. Unlike diffusion-based MC using diffusive molecules, non-diffusion-based MC is resilient to a flow that may exist in the environment since adhesive molecules bind to a surface of the environment and are not affected by the flow. This paper applies non-diffusion-based MC and diffusion-based MC to inbody bionanosensor networks for target detection and compares the performance in terms of the number of bio-nanomachines that can detect a target. Numerical results show that non-diffusion-based MC is more effective than diffusion-based MC when a blood flow exists in the environment. |
