Summary:
This paper describes the design and analysis of the microstrip patch antenna with three different coplanar waveguide feed at frequency 2.4 GHz. The impedance matching, the radiation properties and the influence of the coupling slot have been studied. The proposed antenna is based on capacitive coupling slot, inductive coupling slot and annular loop. The achievable bandwidth for the designs is 3%, 3.73% and 3% at -10 dB return loss respectively which corresponds to WLAN systems in the 2.4 GHz (2400?2484MHz). A detailed parametric study has been done in order to investigate the contribution of the coupling slot position and dimensions to the resonance frequency, return loss and the input impedance. Prototypes of the three designs have been fabricated and measured. Simulated and measured results are presented and discussed where a good agreement between theory and experiment was obtained.
