Summary:
A reduced size miniature dual-band folded patch antenna for WLAN and cellular applications is presented. The proposed antenna provides 3.3% and 25% bandwidth at S11 < -10 dB for 2.5 GHz and 5.2 GHz WLAN bands that completely encompasses the desired ISM2400 and IEEE802.11a/b/g standards. The proposed antenna is minimized to a volume of 15 x 12 x 7 mm, which is about 0.25 wavelengths at the centre frequency 2450 MHz, while the antenna height achieved was about λ/15 at the centre frequency. Good radiation patterns are obtained within the operating bands. Details of the proposed antenna characteristics are presented and discussed.
