Summary:
Invented about a decade ago, rateless (or fountain) codes attract a lot of attention due to their efficiency, flexibility and versatility. In this talk, we review the basic properties of rateless codes and some of their interesting applications the author has been working on that include fountain code design for multimedia delivery, distributed storage and multiple access control.
