Summary:
In this paper, we propose a new MRC that is extended to be used in network slices effectively. This method can achieves a fast failure recovery and an effective network resource utilization for network slicing. In this method, a virtual network dedicated for failure recovery, which is called backup virtual network, is constructed and multiple backup configurations are configured for the backup virtual network according to the original MRC. Then, for each network slice, virtual backup configurations are constructed for each backup configuration. When a node failure or a link failure occurs, each network slice utilizes virtual backup configurations for a fast failure recovery. Here, the amount of network resources for the backup virtual network depends on a topology of each virtual backup configuration. Therefore, in order to reduce the amount of network resources for the backup virtual network, our extended MRC decides a topology of each virtual backup configuration with our optimization problem. We evaluate the performance of our proposed method in some different situations, and we compare its performance with the performance of another method. From numerical examples, we show that our proposed method can reduce the amount of network resources that are needed for the fast failure recovery while performing the fast failure recovery.
