Summary:
We present the experimental evaluation of our previously proposed proximity-based localization method by using passive infrared motion sensors. We aim to show that physical world sensing is possible from non-geotagged data in practice. To this end, each motion sensor sends non-geotagged data to a master computer when a person enters its detection area. We estimate the locations of the sensors by the proposed localization method based only on the non-geotagged data received from the sensors. Once the sensor locations are estimated, we can reconstruct the observation area from the sensor identifiers detecting the objects. The experiments using real devices successfully verifies the effectiveness of the proposed approach for physical world sensing.
