Summary:
We experimentally and numerically demonstrate that stable single-frequency lasing can be achieved in microcavities that have wave-chaotic modes, (i.e., chaotic cavities). The single-frequency lasing is explained as a result of strong competitive interactions among wave-chaotic modes.
