Summary:
A recently discovered brain-inspired processing concept, known as Reservoir Computing, is implemented in photonics, making use of a broadband recurrent nonlinear delayed feedback loop. The latter acts as an emulator of the usual neural network involved in conventional Reservoir Computer or Recurrent Neural Network approaches. Our setup has shown record processing speed in speech recognition, and the detailed modeling and description of the setup allowed us to reveal several operating conditions improving the computation efficiency: desynchronization between input and outpt layers, as well hidden layers.
