Summary:
We propose an exposure compensation algorithm for 360ツー virtual reality video, which considers visual perspective. Conventional algorithms force images to have the same and fixed exposure, but our algorithm finds dynamic exposures according to viewer's gazing point. We measure the Euler angles between a current gazing point and centers of stitched images on a virtual sphere, and optimize exposure compensation parameters based on the angles. Experimental results show that our algorithm successfully compensates exposure differences while keeping the original brightness.
