Summary:
Free-Space optical (FSO) communication is a line-of-sight technology that propagates modulated light to transmit data. FSO light is affected by the various weather conditions such as rain and fog. We focus on rainfall effect and derive the probability density function (pdf) of light intensity transmittance. We derive the pdf based on the channel model assuming that the number of raindrops within the FSO propagation path follows continuous Poisson distribution.
