Summary:
For better understanding antenna properties in a narrow space such as in a densely-packaged equipment, a circular microstrip antenna in a narrow parallel-plate waveguide is theoretically studied. In this paper, we formulate an analytical expression for the resonant frequency in a parallel-plate waveguide. The presented expression couples the resonant frequency with the surface susceptance. We confirm its validity through the comparison with measurement. By using the presented expression, we can easily evaluate and predict variations of the resonant frequency of a circular microstrip in a parallel-plate waveguide.
