Summary:
Physical attacks are a serious treat for secure embedded devices. Attacks based on analysis of electromagnetic emissions of such devices have proven to be particularly dangerous as they can target even small and specific portion of the chip. In this paper we report the main results in the area, focusing in particular on active electromagnetic attacks. We conclude the paper reporting the current works in the area of early estimation of EM vulnerabilities and in the area of countermeasures, as example of promising directions for future research.
