Summary:
Effects of external noise on the duration and correlations of oscillations in ring networks of unidirectionally coupled neurons are studied. Changes in the duration of the unstable transient oscillations due to the noise are derived with a kinematical model of traveling waves in the networks. The duration of oscillations occurring from fixed initial conditions increases in the intermediate strength of the noise. Further, positive correlations appear in variations in the periods of stable oscillations in the networks of ring oscillator type.
