Summary:
The synaptic modifications play an important role in forming the neural network by following plasticity rules. However, the biologically observable distribution is far from the distribution derived by the spike-timing dependent plasticity (STDP), which is a well-known plasticity rule. This paper quantitatively examines the STDP rule combined with fluctuations, which is obtained from morphological observations, and demonstrates that it can derive various features of neural networks; the synaptic weight distributions, the changes in the synaptic weights, and the state dependence of the changes. This result contributes to revealing mechanism of development of neural networks.
