Summary:
Reservoir computing (RC) is a machine learning paradigm based on information processing in the human brain. Recently, RC based on a semiconductor laser with time-delayed optical feedback has been proposed. In this scheme, fast transient response (a fast relaxation time) of the laser is necessary for fast information processing. By using numerical and linear stability analysis, in this study, we show that a semiconductor laser with strong optical injection can produce fast transient response. We also numerically demonstrate that RC based on a semiconductor laser with optical feedback and strong optical injection enables fast information processing.
