Summary:
A particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm with hybrid population topology is proposed in this paper. In contrast to the fully connected network in traditional PSO, the hybrid network is mixed with regular network which has strong exploration ability and scale-free network whose heterogeneous degree distribution diversify the searching ability of each particle. Based on the comparisons with some existing PSO variations, the effectiveness of the proposed PSO is confirmed in terms of solution quality and algorithm robustness.
