Summary:
We explore the dynamics of a fully nonlinear, tree-structured resonator and its response to a broadband forcing of the branches. It is shown that the dynamics leads to the regularization, or narrowing of the spectrum, of vibration towards the stem. Both two- and three-dimensional motions are examined, and compared to laboratory experiments. We show that the branched structures can increase the efficiency of energy harvesting from broadband sources.
