Summary:
Virtual networks, although regarded as a candidate for future networks, still suffer from a complex management plane. A hierarchical role model was proposed that represents different forms of network virtualization in a simple and unified way. As an application of the role model, this paper implements a novel management development platform for virtual networks. By using the proposed platform, a developer can develop modularized management systems of virtual networks through simply writing definition files. As a result, the platform has the potential to reduce greatly the development cost. Finally, a prototype system is constructed to validate the feasibility. Although this research is still ongoing, we believe that it can be a catalyst for further deployment of network virtualization technology.
