Welcome Message from the Organizing Committee

Welcome to the IEICE All Photonic Network (APN) Workshop 2026, to be held on May 14–15, 2026 at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech) in Taipei. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are delighted to invite researchers, engineers, students, and industry partners from around the world to join this exciting event.

A New Forum for the Convergence of Photonics, Computing, and Networks

The All Photonic Network (APN) represents a new vision that goes beyond the evolution of optical communication systems. As computing, networking, and photonics continue to converge at unprecedented speed, APN stands at the forefront of redefining future communication and computing infrastructures through opto-electronic integration.

The APN Workshop aims to foster this emerging interdisciplinary domain by bringing together experts in:

  • All photonic network architecture
  • Opto-electronic converged devices and interconnects
  • Co-design of computing and networking systems
  • Next-generation data center networks and optical interconnects
  • Optical network control, QoS, and orchestration

Our goal is to cultivate a vibrant international community that connects traditionally distinct research fields—optical devices, photonic integration, networking, and computing—and accelerates the creation of new technologies and collaborative research opportunities.

Workshop Features and Tracks

APN 2026 offers a diverse program accommodating a wide range of contributions:

Regular Papers (Oral Presentation)
Peer-reviewed 6-page papers to be published in the IEICE Proceedings Series (Open Access).

Poster Papers
Peer-reviewed 2-page posters, also included in the proceedings.

Poster Presentations (Non-paper Posters)
A unique track designed to showcase:

  • Laboratory introductions
  • National and international project overviews
  • Educational activities
  • Student projects and emerging ideas

This flexible track reflects our commitment to supporting early-stage research, cross-disciplinary initiatives, and community building beyond the traditional format of academic conferences.

Supporting Young Researchers and Community Building

One of the core missions of APN 2026 is to provide a platform where young researchers, doctoral students, and postdoctoral researchers can present their work, interact with leading experts, and form long-term professional networks.

Through the Poster Presentation Track and various networking opportunities, APN 2026 aims to:

  • Enhance visibility of young researchers' work
  • Facilitate international collaboration
  • Promote career development
  • Strengthen ties between academia, industry, and research institutions

We believe that APN will become a place "where young researchers grow, connect, and lead the next wave of innovation."

Collaborative Effort with Supporting Organizations

APN 2026 is organized by the IEICE Communications Society, in collaboration with the Photonic Network Technical Committee. We are also grateful for the strong support from:

Heterogeneously-Integrated Silicon Photonic Integration Center (HiSiPIC), NTUST

  • Venue and local support
  • Financial assistance

The Society of Optical Network Systems (SONS)

  • Invited session planning
  • Operational support
  • Travel assistance

Their contributions are essential in enabling us to build a world-class workshop in Taipei.

We Look Forward to Welcoming You in Taipei

The Organizing Committee is working actively on preparing an engaging program, a user-friendly submission process, and an open environment that encourages participation from a wide range of disciplines and career stages.

We sincerely hope you will join us at APN 2026 and take part in shaping the future of photonics-driven networking and computing. We look forward to welcoming you to Taipei in May 2026.

Warm regards,
APN 2026 Organizing Committee
