Summary:
This paper has measured the effect of transmission range and gateway ratio to the degree of interference in terms of MNC, namely, the maximum number of connection in a cell, on the telematics network. A discrete event simulator has been implemented to trace the load distribution behavior of the network based on genuine movement data obtained from the Jeju taxi telematics system currently in operation. The experiment result indicates that the increase of transmission range up to 220 m can mitigate the congestion on the hot spot area with an appropriate gateway allocation scheme especially in the downtown area. In addition, gateway ratio around 28 % brings a great reduction in MNC, showing reasonable load distribution and vehicle assignment.
