Summary:
This paper compares two types of antennas for Bluetooth applications in mobile handsets in the presence and absence of a human head. A Planar Inverted F Antenna (PIFA) and a three dimensional Loop Type Antenna were designed to fully cover Bluetooth services. The antennas are designed on a Frame Retardant Type 4 (FR-4) substrate (εr= 4.4, tan δ = 0.02) with the size of 140 mm × 45 mm Printed Circuit Board (PCB) with 1 mm thickness.
