Summary:
In this paper, several kinds of printed dual-band antennas with compact sizes for WLAN terminal is presented. Their different structural features based on branched-monopole, inverted-F, and folded-dipole are described; their performances of bandwidth, pattern and structural sizes are compared. The simulated and measured results of designed prototypes show that: either branched-monopole type or inverted-F type are matching over all WLAN bands (2.4, 5.2 & 5.8 GHz), but not satisfies the requirement of omni-directional pattern, and their length is longer; the folded-dipole type has most compacted structure and good omni-directional pattern, but covers 2.4 GHz & 5.2 GHz bands only.
