Summary:
This paper describes the design of a dual-wideband dual linear polarization patch antenna. The antenna consists one antenna element for L-band and a 8~8 planar array for X-band, which share the same radiation aperture. For wideband, stacked patch antenna is selected for both bands and the corporate feed network is used in the X-band array. Microstrip line coupling and slot coupling styles are used for L-band and X-band antenna design respectively. The measured bandwidth of VSWR< 2 reaches 7.5 % (1.13-1.22 GHz) and 10.5% (9.0-10.0 GHz) for L- and X-bands, respectively. The gain varies from 5.8 to7.7 dB and from 20.0 to 21.2 dB in L- and X-band respectively. The isolation and cross polarization performances of this antenna are good.
