Summary:
The communication capacity of frequency diversity with Ku-, Ka-band and millimeter-wave frequencies is compared with that of simultaneous operated Ku-, Ka-band and millimeter-wave frequencies and found the simultaneous operated Ku-, Ka-band and millimeter-wave is better than the frequency diversity. In the first step, we measure different signal strengths and attenuation levels of Ku-band JCSAT2A and Ka-band WINDS satellites when rainfall intensity is over 10 mm/hr. The ITU-R rain attenuation model is referred to estimate the attenuation for different frequencies of satellite. We have calculated the attenuation of Ka band from Ku band which result is exactly synchronized to the measured time series attenuation of Ka band. Since there are no measured time series data in the satellite link for millimeter-wave frequencies (40 GHz), we have estimated the attenuations of 40 GHz from referring to ITU-R rain attenuation model. The calculated attenuations of 40 GHz from measured time-series attenuations of Ku and Ka-band perfectly synchronised to each other. The availability of satellite is calculated from the estimated attenuations of 40 GHz from Ku and Ka band which is nearly synchronised to each other. Finally, the availability of the satellite is applied to the frequency diversity and the dual frequency use with Ku-, Ka-band and millimeter-wave frequencies to increase the communication capacity of satellite.
