Summary:
We focus on coverage extension using non-terrestrial network (NTN) for cellular network in the beyond fifth-generation/sixth-generation wireless. HAPS is considered to be one of the promising components for NTN. As for frequency, 38-GHz band is allocated to the feeder-link of HAPS for the communication with ground base stations. However, this band is significantly affected by rain attenuation, which in turn affects the quality of communication services. To address this issue, we propose a flexible traffic routing algorithm among HAPSs and satellites corresponding to the rain condition. This paper shows the improvement of availability of user equipment when applying the proposed traffic control method. We conducted computer simulations and confirmed that throughput improved by about 3.1 times using our method
