A Consideration of Initial Value Estimation of Localization of Near-field Sources for MUSIC Method in Distributed Array

Summary:
In the 2023 IEICE General Conference, it was shown that using MUSIC method iteratively on distributed arrays provides highly accurate localization of near-field sources. However, the method requires the initial wave source positions (angle and distance) within an error of (±5°,±5λ) (λ:wavelength). We propose here a method using ESPRIT for the initial value estimation and compare its performance with that of the conventional NF(Near-field)-SAGE-DOA-Matrix method. From the computer simulation results, We have confirmed that the ESPRIT offers a fast and accurate estimation for the initial localization of MUSIC.
