Summary:
This report proposes a reconfigurable frequency using electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structures for single band and wideband operation. The proposed EBG structures can select the desired operating frequency by switching the PIN diodes at any selected patches. Each EBG patch provides different resonant frequency due to the different inductance value. The narrowband operation of single EBG patch can be combined by switching more than one PIN diodes to achieve wide band operating frequency. From the simulated result, the wideband frequency can be achieved between 1.17 GHz and 2.33 GHz.
