Summary:
The configuration of the 64x64-way beam-switching Butler matrix is explained. It is designed, fabricated, and measured in the 22GHz band. The 64 beams can cover 39.5% hemisphere by 0.65-wavelength aperture spacing in simulation. The measured beam coverage is almost the same as the simulated one. Multi-beam massive MIMO configuration using the 64x64-way beam-switching Butler matrix is shown. The effectiveness of the multi-beam massive MIMO using the measured 8 by 8 beam patterns with the planar array is also clarified.
