Summary:
This paper investigates the system capacity of millimeter-wave (mm-wave) and terahertz (THz) broadband communications with respect to delayed waves as well as molecular absorption and rain. Our performance evaluation aims to adopt single-carrier modulation with frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) as a practical transmission method for extremely high frequency bands and to analyze the system capacity by considering the delay spread based on the ITU-R M.2412-0 Report. Our proposed approach incorporates the frequency selectivity into the performance evaluation according to the propagation conditions, such as the line-of-sight (LoS) and non-line-of-sight (NLoS) conditions, thereby clarifying the need to consider the delay spread in mm-wave and THz broadband communications.
