Summary:
An efficient methodology to study stable in-phase synchronization in networks of identical nonlinear oscillators is proposed. The problem of investigating synchronization properties is reduced to an eigenvalue problem by means of the joint application of the Master Stability Function and the Harmonic Balance technique. The proposed method permits to achieve huge reduction in computational time respect to traditional time-domain approaches. In addition, such method can be extended to study synchronization patterns in networks of nonlinear oscillators described by differential-algebraic equations.
