Summary:
Four different potentially very light weight 1.5GHz were trialled within the wing structure of a solar powered unmanned aerial vehicle. Positions within the structure that did and did not adversely affect the radiation patterns of the antennas are identified. In general, the solar panels did not affect the antennas, whereas the spar did and acted as a reflector.
