Summary:
We derived expressions of the power and ground voltage noises in reducing common-mode voltage on power distribution network of an LSI. It came out that they have the same amplitude, and the phase difference of them approaches to 180 degrees. To confirm that, we carried out an experiment with a test board with a cover-metal structure. This is floating conductor in an LSI package to reduce common-mode voltage. The evaluation was performed using a measuring instrument which can measure amplitude and phase difference of two channels in synchronization, and calculate common-mode and differential-mode voltages. As a consequence, we verified the phenomenon similar to the expressions we derived.
