Summary:
In LBL underwater acoustic positioning, multiple reference points are set up and the distance from the reference point to the measurement target is measured to determine the position in the coordinates. In the distance measurement, the arrival time is estimated from the cross-correlation function between the received and reference signals. Under strong sound wave reflection, the detection error becomes large in detecting the arrival time from the correlation function waveform peak environments. In this study, we apply a repeated variable threshold method in the distance measurement algorithm and evaluate the positioning accuracy in simulation and experiment.
