Summary:
We present the transverse-mode and polarization characteristics of 1.55-μm micromachined VCSELs. The addition of a micromachined structure designed for athermal operations results in single transverse-mode and stable-polarization operation with an orthogonal polarization suppression ratio of over 20 dB
