Summary:
A small-sized, multiple-loop-antenna system able to generate concurrent 2.4 and 5 GHz bands for wireless local area network (WLAN) operation is presented. The design comprises four loop antennas, arranged perpendicular to and set along a square ground, and occupies overall dimensions 10 mm × 75 mm × 75 mm. The four loops and the antenna ground were all integrated into one-piece flat plate. The loop was bent in a compact fashion such that parts of the antenna resonance path were merged into the ground plane. In this case, a multi-antenna system with a simple structure and compact size was achieved. Good radiation characteristics were also obtained.
