Summary:
The increased deployment of distributed generators in low voltage distribution networks is expected to cause significant problems in power network such as voltage stability, power flow and increase in fault current, unless existing networks are appropriately adapted and actively controlled as part of a smart grid. This paper looks at the domestic demand side management and describes the potential and practical possibility of flexible domestic demand which would decrease the peak demand and cut the expensive power generations.
