Summary:
The paper presents the application scenarios of the Carrier-grade delay-aware resource management for wireless multi-hop/mesh networks (CARMNET) system in the metropolitan network of a regional telecommunications service provider. The CARMNET system, by means of the Delay-Aware Network Utility Maximisation model and the IP Multimedia Subsystem application, introduces an easy to integrate advanced resource allocation system aimed to be useful for telecom operators. The CARMNET solution has been evaluated in Poznan, Poland in cooperation with INEA, the leading regional telecommunication operator. The evaluation includes scenarios of both extending network coverage and improving the service quality throughout an application of seamless handover. The results indicate the ability of successful integration of the CARMNET system with an existing metropolitan WiFi infrastructure.
