Summary:
Of all applications of peer-to-peer systems BitTorrent-like file sharing systems becomes increasingly popular, and form a large portion of traffic on Internet. In such systems, peers should share their upload bandwidth in order to increase their download rates. Consequently, tuning the upload bandwidth, a costly resource, such that provides a desirable download time is one of the main concerns of peers. In this paper, we model this as an optimization problem which minimize upload bandwidth and is constrained with a maximum acceptable download time. Solving this problem, we propose an iterative algorithm which has the benefit of low complexity and can be implemented with low computation and communication overhead.
