Summary:
Design problem of CSD-FIR filter is classified as a NP-hard problem. Therefore, several design methods using metaheuristics is proposed to achieve a reasonable design precision. Additionally, a scaling method is proposed to support the filter design by reducing the coefficient quantization error. Although this method effectively reduces the design error, additional multiplier is required for compensating it’s gain corresponding to the scaling factor. In this paper, we propose a scaling method without the additional multiplier by performing the scaling with only bit-shifting and still able to reduce it’s design error. Numerical experiments with multiple design patterns were used to show the effectiveness.
