2020 Sosaieti Tournament

Symposium Session "Wireless Sensing Technology to Promote the Realization of a Smart Society"

  • Date: September 16, 2020, 10:30-11:45
  • Location: Online (Meeting 12)
  • Organizers: Hidehisa Shiomi (Osaka University), Takuya Sakamoto (Kyoto University)
  • Number of presentations: 11
Purpose of proposal

Sensor technologies such as IoT, which play a central role in the realization of smart society and society 5.0, are attracting attention. As expectations for the creation of next-generation services and new industries such as wireless biometric sensing, drone detection and location estimation are increasing, interest in wireless sensing hardware, software, and systems that support them is rapidly increasing. The development of next-generation wireless sensing technology is rapid, with the advent of remote wireless power supply and distributed antenna systems using optical fiber wireless signal transmission. In particular, information science approaches such as independent component analysis can decompose a large number of target information into a small number of clusters and analyze them in detail, and a dramatic increase in the amount of information obtained from wireless signals is expected. In this symposium, we will widely solicit papers on antennas, propagation, and systems related to wireless sensing technology, and discuss the latest technical issues.

2020 General Meeting

Panel session "Understanding and appropriate use of correlation coefficients in the field of antennas and propagation"

  • Date: March 18, 2020 13:30-15:55 August 2020 Meeting as a Type 2 Study Group (Program)
  • Venue: Hiroshima University Higashi-Hiroshima Campus
  • Organizer: Naoki Honma (Iwate University)
  • Number of presentations: 4
Purpose of proposal

Correlation coefficients are widely used for analysis and evaluation of phenomena in various fields. In the field of antenna and propagation, it is often used for propagation characteristic evalua
tion, multi-antenna performance evaluation, alley signal processing, etc., but the definition of correlation coefficients is various depending on the evaluation object and application, and there a
re differences in the way of thinking and handling by researchers. Therefore, in this panel session, we will introduce various research cases and topics related to correlation coefficients in the
field of antenna and propagation, and aim to share understanding and usage of correlation coefficients through technical discussions between panelists and participants.

Tutorial Session "New Antennas and Propagation Technologies Brought about by Machine Learning"

  • Date: March 19, 2020 13:30-15:40 November 2020 As a type 2 study group (program)
  • Venue: Hiroshima University Higashi-Hiroshima Campus
  • Organizer: Hiroaki Nakabayashi (Chiba Institute of Tech)
  • Number of presentations: 5
  • Co-organizer: No
Purpose of proposal

The recent evolution of machine learning is changing a lot in various scenes of business and society. In the field of antenna and propagation research, the use of machine learning has the potential as a tool for solving difficult problems and developing new fields, and the demand for it is increasing. In this session, we will ask you to give a lecture on application examples in the fields of radio wave propagation, antennas, and antenna systems, with the aim of understanding from the basics of machine learning to how to effectively use machine learning in each field.
