General Conference

The outline of the IEICE General Conference is as follows:

The IEICE General Conference is an academic conference held in spring (March) and lasts for four days. It is the flagship event of the institute, which has been held annually since 1955. The conference is a joint meeting organized by five societies and one group (Fundamental and Frontier, NOLTA, Communications, Electronics, Information and Systems, and Human Communication), covering a wide range of fields in electronics, information, and communication.

The conference features various sessions, including sessions open to the general public (general and symposium sessions), as well as planned sessions such as special talks given by prominent researchers and symposiums dealing with cutting-edge topics. Over 2,000 presentations are delivered during the conference. The total number of participants over the four days exceeds 10,000. The poster session, specifically targeted at students, provides a valuable learning opportunity where they can present their research progress and ideas, even if they are still in the early stages. It is an important occasion for students to enhance their skills as researchers. The plenary session includes keynote speeches by distinguished researchers, stimulating the intellectual curiosity of the members. In the 2003 General Conference, a commemorative lecture by Koichi Tanaka, a Nobel laureate, was held, and in the 2015 General Conference, commemorative lectures by Yasuharu Suematsu, a recipient of the Japan Prize, as well as lectures by Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura, Nobel laureates, were featured.

Additionally, the conference offers opportunities for interaction with companies through career counseling sessions and corporate exhibitions. It provides insights into technological trends, services, and showcases cutting-edge products. The IEICE General Conference is an important event for researchers and students interested in the field of electronics, information, and communication, offering a valuable opportunity to stay updated on the latest trends in academic research.
