The IEICE was founded in 1911 as a former organization of the second study group of the second department of the Ministry of Communications electric laboratory. It was officially established in May 1917 as the "Telegraph and Telephone Society" and celebrated its 100th anniversary in May 2017. The Institute aims to contribute to the building of a healthy communication society and the preservation and development of a rich global environment by promoting academic achievement, industrial growth, and the enhancement of human resources as an international society in the field of electronics, information, and communications, and related fields. Our goal is to continue to develop new fields and contribute to the growth of human resources to create paradigm shifts by combining cross-cutting elements from several technical fields and establishing new technical fields from these elements.

01The Journal of the IEICE
A leading edge world to know from each special issues ~ You will See the Future you do not Know~
The journal is published 23,000 copies every month. We publish a special issue every month and delivered to members in an easy-to-read articles centering on the field of electronic information communications. With the 100th anniversary of our foundation, we have completely digitized all the journals since the first issue (the number of contents is about 20,000) and currently providing an online version. We have provided a journal application in order to support smartphones since December 2013. You can also browse through a trial browsing site. We hope you will enjoy our journal.
02The IEICE Transactions
~ Knowing the leading edge technologies~
IEICE publishes seven IEICE Transactions and four IEICE Transactions (Japanese editons), of which all IEICE Transactions have impact factors. Each journal has independent contents and contains papers that have been rigorously reviewed by prominent researchers. Papers are submitted from all over the world and 70% of submissions are from overseas. The annual publications in eleven journals is about 1,200 in FY2022. IEICE will begin a multilingual translation trial of the four IEICE Transacitons and ELEX. We aim to increase exposure to non-native English speakers. We are looking forward to your submission.

The IEICE is promoting the digitization of IEICE journals, IEICE Transactions (Japanese Edition), IEICE Transactions, IEICE Technical Report, conference proceedings, International conference proceedings, etc. In addition, the IEICE operate an archive system that is intended to be used as a new research resource for researchers in the field of electronic information communications. The contents archive system has been preserved from the journal published in 1917, and currently contains about 400,000 contents.
04Technical committee
A place where people and technology meet-A world tide is born-
The IEICE technical committees are an unique activity of the IEICE. Under five societies and one group, many researchers gather in each specialized field, and more than 500 technical committees are held annually and the number of presentations reaches 10,000. Active discussions are held on the theme of leading edge technology to encourage the emergence of new research. IEICE Technical Reports as technical committees documents will be digitized from conventional booklets and will be fully digitized in FY2020. In addition, we support activities from presentation to submission through our original technical committee application system. We hope to your participate in the technical committee as a place to interact with researchers.

01Conference
A place to stimulate intellectual curiosity
IEICE holds conferences every spring and autumn, where students, engineers and researchers from companies and universities gathers to discuss. The conference hold thousands of general lectures and symposiums, as well as special lectures by prominent researchers. In addition, we hold an event with leading edge themes. In the poster session, you can get a lot of advice from senior researchers. Career consultation meeting which is popular among students allows to interact with various companies. There is also a company exhibition as a place for creating industry-government-academia exchanges and technology trends and services, and holding presentations. The conference hosted by the IEICE is one of the leading events in Japan, with approximately 5,000 participants in the Spring General Conference and approximately 3,000 participants in the Fall Society Conference. FIT hold jointly with the IPSJ. The FIT participants is approximately 1000. We will start using the conference app from 2020 General Conference to improve the convenience of participants and make it easier to refer to the conference program.

There are 10 branches (Hokkaido, Tohoku, Tokyo, Shin-Etsu, Tokai, Hokuriku, Kansai, Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu). Various activities, such as lectures, workshops, tours, and public awareness activities for the general public, are being held under actual region conditions.

The IEICE has over 2,000 overseas members from over 60 countries. At International Sections, the following activities are being held by section representatives.

~Science for children ! ~
It has been pointed out that there is a shortage of ICT engineers, and a problem of junior high school and high school students are away from science, engineering and chemistry. The IEICE has taken this problem seriously from an early stage, and we have been held science classes aimed at nurturing children who are interested in sciences for elementary, junior high and high school students since 1995.
