Greeting Message from General Chairs of Joint Workshop TJMW & AWPT2023

Welcome to Joint Workshop Thailand-Japan Microwave & Asian Wireless Power Transfer Workshop 2023!

It is our great pleasure to see all of our microwave and wireless power transfer (WPT) friends here in Bangkok, Thailand. Researchers from microwave and WPT societies in Thailand and Japan are organizing this workshop to build a strong friendship between the both communities. First of all, we would like to state our appreciation to all of our microwave and WPT friends, related societies and affiliations.

We celebrated the 10th anniversary of TJMW in June 2019. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, the 11th TJMW, originally scheduled for June 2020, had to be postponed. We are pleased to announce that, after a four-year hiatus, it was successfully resumed in December 2023.

In 1999, we had the first TJMW (Thailand-Japan Joint Symposium on Microwaves) in Pattaya, Thailand. It was a small, but great step for both microwave societies. Unfortunately, there were fewer opportunities to have technical discussions on microwave theory and techniques after TJMW1999. Through the discussions in APMC2007 held in Bangkok, all members felt the warm and positive atmosphere between Thailand and Japan, which resulted in organizing TJMW again. The TJMW restarted as “Thailand–Japan MicroWave” at King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) in 2009. TJMW has been held annually in Bangkok since 2009 with the exception of 2010, and even in 2020, 2021, and 2022, which are postponed due to COVID-19, TJMW has continued as an online event with a reduced scale as the TJMW Student Workshop. Next September will mark the 25th anniversary, signifying a quarter of a century since the firstTJMW in 1999.

In 2015, the 1st AWPT (Asian Wireless Power Transfer Workshop) was held in Tam Kang University, Taipei, Taiwan. AWPT has been held annually in EAST and Southeast Asian countries (China, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, and Taiwan) since 2015. AWPT is focusing on wireless power transfer technologies and their applications. AWPT aims to promote the WPT technologies, research and development through technical discussions, and to encourage research by students and young researchers.

Joint Workshop TJMW & AWPT2023 is sponsored by IEICE Technical Committee on Microwaves, IEICE Technical Committee on Wireless Power Transfer and is jointly hosted by King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), University. Technical co-sponsorships are acknowledged by IEICE Bangkok Section, IEEE MTT/AP/ED Thailand Chapters, ECTI Association, IEEE MTT-S Japan/Kansai/Nagoya Chapters, IEICE Technical Committee on Integrated Circuits and Devices. With the great help from the above societies, we have received many research paper submissions of 56 including 49 research papers from young researchers. The student design competition will be held this year as we did 10th TJMW in 2019.

Our microwave and WPT society have been keeping an important role as "the hub port of technologies" among antenna, communication, optics, electronic devices, integrated circuits, EMC and so on. The 5G era is growing rapidly and receiving a lot of attention. In addition to the technical importance of TJMW and AWPT, we also believe that, with over 20-years of history, it’s now one of the important hub ports of multi-regions and multi-generation human networks, such as ASEAN, especially in Thailand and Japan, and from students to senior experts. Thanks to a lot of efforts from committee members both now and in the past, we are now here. So, please enjoy the Joint Workshop TJMW & AWPT2023!

We would like to express our appreciation to all of the sponsors, the ECTI Association, UM-Services Ltd., Technoprobe Inc. FT-WORKS Inc., and IRC Technologies Ltd. for their continuous support that makes this conference successful. Finally, we greatly appreciate all the authors, speakers, and attendees for participating in this event.
