Message from the President

Message from the President of IEICE on the Earthquake in Myanmar and Surrounding Areas

On behalf of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE), I extend my deepest sympathies to the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar and its surrounding regions.
Our thoughts are with the individuals, families, and communities who have suffered loss, injury, or displacement due to this tragic event.

IEICE stands in solidarity with the people of Myanmar and all those affected. We deeply respect and appreciate the dedication and bravery of the emergency responders and volunteers who are working tirelessly to provide aid and support in this time of need.

As a resident of Japan, a country frequently impacted by natural disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, heavy rains, and tsunamis, I am reminded of the fragility of our society and the vital role that science, engineering, and collaboration play in building a more resilient future.

As engineers and researchers, we recognize our responsibility to advance technologies that mitigate the impact of such disasters, including resilient communication infrastructures and emergency response networks.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to all those affected by this tragedy.
